SILVERDALE, Wash. — Rear Adm. (Select) Bette Bolivar will relieve Rear Adm. Mark Rich as Commander, Navy Region Northwest on Friday, June 14. The change of command ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton.
Rich was selected for his next assignment as Commandant, Naval District Washington in Washington, D.C.
Bolivar, who will become Navy Region Northwest’s first female commander, most recently served as the Chief of Staff for Commander, Navy Installations Command, headquartered in Washington, D.C. She is a native of Honolulu, HI.
Navy Region Northwest encompasses the six-state area of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and Alaska. Navy Region Northwest is home to approximately 21,000 active duty Sailors and Marines, 16,000 Department of the Navy civilian employees, 6,000 drilling Reservists, 40,000 family members, and 35,000 Navy retirees.
