MARYSVILLE, Wash. (NNS) — Staff members at Navy Lodge Everett at Smokey Point, Naval Station Everett (NSE) Support Complex, accepted the 2013 Edward E. Carlson Award for Navy Lodge of the Year during a ceremony June 5.
The Carlson Award is presented each year to the Navy Lodge that demonstrated superior performance in operations, associate satisfaction, leadership, and guest service during the year.
“The outstanding service and hospitality you provide to military members and their families supports the readiness of our warfighters on a daily basis,” said NSE Commanding Officer Capt. James Duke. “A life in the Navy is a life in constant transit. Your ability to offer them a warm welcome on their journey, wherever they may be traveling to or from, is no small comfort.”
Navy Lodge Everett is the first Navy Lodge to receive the Carlson Award in back to back years. Last year, based on guest surveys, associate feedback, inspections, and other data Navy Lodge Everett won the Carlson Award for best medium-sized category.
“We have an exceptional staff, and we try to provide premier guest service every day,” said Dominic Lewis, Navy Lodge Everett general manager. “I am proud of my staff and we are proud to support the base, military members and their families.”
During the ceremony, both Duke and Michael Bockelman, vice president of Navy Exchange Command and director of the Navy Lodge program, credited the staff members at Navy Lodge Everett as instrumental in making it one of the most successful Navy Lodges in the world. It was the labors of this team that made Navy Lodge Everett such a clean, comfortable, and friendly environment.
“The Carlson Award you are receiving today is an indication of your excellence and hard work. The title of “best Navy Lodge in the world” is a significant achievement that is certainly well-deserved after many years of exceptional service to both enlisted Sailors and flag officers alike,” Duke added
Each one of the associates of Navy Lodge Everett received awards or certificates to honor their contribution to the Navy Lodge’s success.
The Carlson Award is named in honor of Edward E. Carlson, a former member of the Secretary of the Navy’s Advisory Committee. Carlson’s leadership and guidance to the Navy Lodge Program was instrumental in creating the world-class hospitality service to military members that it is today.
