BREMERTON, Wash. – Puget Sound Navy Museum (PSNM) was awarded a certificate of excellence by the travel website TripAdvisor for 2014.

The PSNM features galleries of USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), special operations submarines, a dry dock theater, family discovery room, Puget Sound Navy history and they frequently have temporary exhibits on display.

“Receiving the Award of Excellence from TripAdvisor is a real source of pride for Puget Sound Navy Museum staff and volunteers,” said Senior Curator Danelle Eaton. “The award is determined by visitor reviews and ratings on the TripAdvisor site and is validation that Museum staff and volunteers as well as the City of Bremerton are taking great care of Museum facilities and providing a warm welcome to Museum visitors.”

TripAdvisor is a travel website that assists customers in gathering information, posting reviews and opinions of travel-related content, and engaging in interactive travel forums.

“If you are interested in the history of the Navy in the Puget Sound area, especially Bremerton, this is the place to visit,” said TripAdvisor user ‘deeradoe’. “There are plenty of interactive exhibits to enjoy.”

According to TripAdvisor’s website, the certificate of excellence award is given to outstanding businesses that have received praise and recognition in reviews by TripAdvisor travelers. Winners of the award range from one-room bed and breakfasts to 6,000 room hotels, from bakeries to Michelin star restaurants, and hidden attractions to world-renowned parks and museums.

To qualify for the certificate of excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 month.

In October 2013, PSNM was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums during a meeting of accreditation commissions.
